The Founder Mahendra Dave

Mahendra was born in an environment where music flowed since the day he can remember In the environs of Main Street ( MG Road)in his father's music shop Empire Music House which most old timers of Pune remember fondly. Empire Music House were pioneers in bringing great brands and products like Grundig, Siemens, Telefunken, Cosmic, Arphi, etc to Pune.

Exposure to the beginnings of the Audio industry - Gramophones, Valve Radios, Reel to Reel Recorders, Vinyls, Cassettes, CDs, to latest Digital Media players etc and to a vast range of music Indian Classical, Film, Western Classical, popular, Classic Rock, Jazz ….From pure Analog to Digital and now back to Analog again, Mahendra's inquisitive mind helped him absorb not just the music but the equipment which landed in his father shop for service and repair.

The next step while in school was to build Loudspeakers, Amplifiers. as a DIY enthusiast

Pocket money would go into purchasing mikes, mixers, headphones, recorders and records for friends and amateur musicians The transition to high quality sound was quick, as later, he went on to provide sound systems for recording Private concerts of legends like Pt Bhimsen Joshi, Ustad Usman Khan, Pt UdayBhawalkar and others with state of the art equipment to capture the magic. All this helped him to develop a passion to capture and play the Original Sound exactly the way it was produced.

Oceanic was started after Mahendra's fathers demise in 1992 to further his ambition to provide people with good music and great music systems from average affordable budget to Serious High End System. As technology moved with time so did Oceanic as they added new products and technologies like Home Theaters, Digital To Analog Converts, Media Servers etc.

Music CDs were also published under the "Oceanic" label like Sufi Splendor, Sufi Flame, Rejoicing to name a few.

A meeting at Osho's with Walter Schmidt an ex-Phillips R & D engineer who had developed Electrostatic loudspeakers was another milestone. Listening to his ES speakers was a divine experience. This led to the formation of India's first high end Audio company CADENCE. Cadence speakers were launched at the London Hi Fi show and exported to many European countries.

The next steps were to partner with more serious High End Audio brands and designers and owners of such companies throughout the world, many of who entrusted Oceanic with an exclusive partnership. Together with them, Oceanic could participate in several audio shows in Europe.

Oceanic has grown steadily over the past 45 years garnering knowledge and experience and building a team which has imbibed the philosophy and is sharing the mission.

Reginald grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a conductor and played Violin and Cello.His sister is a pianist and organ player. His uncle played cello with the Bombay Philharmonic Orchestra

Reginald himself is a passionate violinist, bass player and choral singer with OMMC and Poona Musicale He has been exposed to all genres of music since a young age. He has over 35 years of experience in Sales with a high end distributor of audio and vision systems in the Middle East and in India.





He has 30 years of hands experience on various Audio-Video equipment with upto date understanding of technology. Over the years he has successfully installed and commissioned a variety of Audio – Video Projects which includes High End Stereo and Home theatre systems for residential and commercial applications He has installed Pro Audio sound systems for Places of worship, Schools, Restaurants, Gyms, Malls and others

He has recorded many live concerts of Indian Classical and International musicians.





A true afficionado of Music and Movies He is passionate and knowledgeable about Indian and international films.

He loves Indian and Western Music … Pop, Rock, R & B, Jazz, Blues...

He has been with Oceanic for more than 12 Years happily serving music and movie lovers.
